Martin Luther King Service under "Embracing Beloved Community" Was a Success!

MLK was a great man of character, conscience and courage!

Dearborn area Interfaith Network honored the memory of MLK at Christ Episcopal Church.

Br. Dawud Walid as the keynote speaker, made an inspiring, energizing and awakening speech.

Rev. Terri, Rev. Colleen, Rev. Fran. Rev. John, Rabbi Ariana, Rev. Regina, Brian Stone and music groups did great job.

Thanking them all and the planning committee, Imam Elahi would like to share the text of the Quranic verses he shared with the audience!

"MLK was a great man of character, conscience and many qualifications. But the title of God's servant may represent him the best.

Let's look at Chapter Al-Forqan, "The Criterion" which is number 25 in the Quran.

Starting from verse 63, the Quran shares with us 15 signs of the servants of the Compassionate Creator who are recognized as passengers of Paradise!

The servants of the Compassionate Lord are those who:

1-Walk humbly (now by car or motor cycle, don't drive over speed limit )

2-When they addressed by the ignorant, their answer is :SALAAM-PEACE. So they don't argue with the ignorant!

3-For them, the darkness of night is an opportunity for more prayer and prostration.

4-They ask the Lord to protect them from the hell fire and punishment.

5-They are able to avoid extremism, keep their balance behavior even in charity spending.

6-God is their only call, (the single central source of all blessings)

7-They never participate on slaying an innocent life.

8-As they never practice sexual sin and fornication

Since destruction of someone's life or integrity is an act of disgrace and deserves eternal punishment in hell valley.

9-Expect for those who sincerely repent, return to the faith and start a life of righteousness to receive the Lord mercy and forgiveness!

10-They don't testify to a lie! Another word, they don't witness what is false.

11-When they face something foolish and impious; they pass it by a noble spirit.

12-When they are reminded of their Lord's remarkable signs and characteristics; they demonstrate understanding, and not spiritual deafness and blindness.

13-In their prayers they ask their Lord, to help their family and their coming generations to join them in worshiping the Lord in this world and the pleasure of Paradise in hereafter.

14-They pray to be the role model for the righteous!

15-They will be rewarded with some reserved residences in His kingdom, their patience in this world will provide them peace and greeting in the garden of eternity, how beautiful, restful and stable eternal station.

Briefly, all people have an opportunity to be servants of the Compassionate Lord, the passwords and the conditions to get that title includes qualities such as humbleness, peace, prayer, piety, truthfulness, wisdom, spiritual awareness rewarded with a place in the residence of the righteous in Paradise!

Meeting with Honorable Senator Debbie Stabenow, Very Meaningful

26172114_10159787792495293_35302024064638749_o.jpg

and Promising!

What did Imam Elahi say to our Senator?

"It was a pleasure this morning to meet with Senator Debbie Stabenow and a group of Muslim religious leaders at the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn.

In addition to chairman, Dr. Nouroddin Saab, Dr. Ned Fawaz, and Imam Kazerouni from ICOA, all other participants got a chance to share their concerns, especially on the issues related to our community including president Trump and his Islamophobic statements and expressions.

I addressed the meeting and spoke to Senator Stabenow of my concerns on immigration issues and the problem related to hundreds of Iraqis in Michigan who are detained for many months and are in the danger of deportation.

I also expressed my disappointment of president Trump's troubling tweets which continue to create chaos and confrontation all over the world. I mentioned that the president's declaration of Jerusalem was not only an attack at the Palestinians but also an insult to the Muslims, Christians and Jews all over the world who consider Jerusalem as spiritual capital of three Abrahamic traditions and in particular the capital for Palestinians.
I called presidents tweets on the recent Iranian demonstrations very embarrassing. Of course every community and nation has the right to demonstrate peacefully against their leader's policies but for Trump to ban Iranians from traveling to the US and call them a terrorist nation and then all the sudden call them good and wise for opposing their political system? That is so cheap and dishonest!

Would the president also praise the demonstrations of the Palestinians in Jerusalem against the Israeli government, or the Saudis and Bahrainis against their kingdoms or the Yemenis who are going through a daily genocide by the Saudi ruthless bombardments?

How, if millions of Americans demonstrate against president Trump, he would call it fake news and condemns it, while he would praise it if it's against someone he doesn't like?

I concluded that these kinds of polices in this global village would hurt the integrity of America and we need to turn this embarrassing situation to an opportunity of bridge building, working together and make America truly great again. My last word was about the tragedy of Myanmar and the need to support UN in its effort to stop that horrible ethnic cleansing!
I announced the preparation of Muslim Imams to meet with president Trump to convey our concerns, something I doubt he would ever agree!
Honorable Senator Debbie Stabenow listened passionately to all of our comments and questions, explained what she had already done on some of those issues and promised to do her best to follow up with the details of this morning friendly conversation.

No doubt this kind of outreach matters a lot and it's up to our communities to take it very seriously!

Visiting the Michigan Science Center where the "1001 Inventions" Exhibition is Located!

Islamic House of Wisdom was one of the State's mosques and community centers that donated to this educational initiative that so far has attracted thousands of visitors, especially the youth and college students.

1001 Inventions is a simple symbolic reminder of the Islamic World's contributions to human civilization. A reminder of the scientific discovery and innovation during the golden age of Muslim Civilization, beginning in the 7th century and following the story through many centuries of prosperity and progress.

The enemies of Islam and civilization, ISIS and their supporters destroyed so many signs of the Islamic civilization in Syria, Iraq and other places.

12/22/17: Justice for Jerusalem! Details of Imam Words, Addressed in Civic Center in Dearborn!

Justice for Jerusalem!

Details of Imam Elahi Words, Addressed in Civic Center in Dearborn!

Jerusalem has been known as the spiritual capital of three Abrahamic faiths for thousands of years.

President Trump's decision to turn Jerusalem to the capital of Israel, is a damaging and dangerous decision not only for Muslims, but also for Christians who live in Palestine and see Jerusalem as Jesus city.

For the Palestinians wither Muslims or Christians, its unimaginable to think of Palestine without Jerusalem!

But president Trump and vice president, Mike Pence's direction is also dangerous for Jews.

To be fair, this administration is not responsible for this for this 70 year old mess in the Middle East.

But its responsible for not showing some courage, commitment and leadership and for not being part of a just and peaceful solution, this administration continues to be part of the problem, just for political purposes.

The solution is not by denying or ignoring the problem, or by keep changing the subject. If 14 out of 15 members of Security Council say we have a problem and Netanyahu is the only one who thanks Trump, then obviously we have problem.

The solution is not blaming the victims, or considering the Israeli occupation as someone else fault.

Counting on corrupt kingdoms and founders of al-Qaeda and Isis is not the solution.

The Saudis and Israeli can be

the best allies, but no honorable people of Jewish, Christian or Muslim nations would ever respect that union. That is the union of the thieves, either stealing the Palestinian property and building illegal settlements or the house of Saud of stealing the oil and money of their people to buy hundreds of palaces. Ben Salman paid $300 million for one house in in France, $450 million for one painting! and $550 million for one boat and he calls himself a reformer! How nice!

The world is vomiting to watch all those wasteful expenses, while 20 millions of Yemenis are starving to death while still under the daily bombardments and war crimes of house of Saud.

No one can blame the Palestinians for this long conflict!

Late Yasser Arafat went to Camp David and Oslo, he did every compromise yet he was punished under house arrest and finally suspicious death.

Mahmud Abbes is approaching the same end.

As Abraham Lincoln said, you can't fool all of the people all of the time, Sooner or later the truth will be known by all the people.

I am worried not only for Muslims and Christians in Jerusalem but also my Jewish brothers and sisters in humanity. For how many more years or decades they should be protected in that military base called Israel?

In the last 70 years, the US has spent trillions of dollars to protect Israel; it's not about just $ 4 billion a years, all the money in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, Yemen and Libya wars, partly to protect Israel. What if one day America stops doing that, what would happen to the Jewish people? 5 million Palestinian are already homeless and feel the pain of homelessness, let's have no homeless from any race or religion any more.

Let's win the minds and minds of the people in the Middle East and everywhere, wining those luxurious palaces in Riyadh and tall towers in Tel Aviv is not the solution.

Let's be friends with those poor people who defended the churches, and saved Christian communities not those who supported the Isis, whether with their money or their air force.

Jerusalem was occupied one time in 1948 and second time in 1967 and third time now in 2017, this is no one else fault, except Israel.

Let's be honest, identify the real sources of threat and the real enemies of peace in the Middle East.

We pray for peace, for a day when all Abraham children live in Jerusalem with freedom, democracy, dignity peace and justice. Ameen.

Hamtramck Interfaith Thanksgiving, an Inspiring Outreach and Bridge Building!
It was great to listen to so many officials, community and religious leaders. Honorable Judge Shakour address was very enlightening.
Imam Elahi made the closing words in which he thanked the Almighty for His Mercy and Wisdom. Everything in this universe is manifestation of His mercy and justice.
We thank Him for His gift of guidance, grace and for blessing us with Abraham, Muses, Jesus and Mohammad (pbut) to lead us to the straight path.
We thank God for our freedom, for our opportunities, and the ability of listening and learning from one another.
Imam Elahi mentioned that though the history of Thanksgiving is full of controversy, yet the concept of gratefulness is a common concept. The word of shokr or gratitude is mentioned in the Quran 75 times.
In conclusion, Imam Elahi expressed happiness that the butcher of Bosnia was brought to justice today and he prayed that soon the war criminals and butchers of Yemen (the evil aggressors of Saudi corrupt kingdom) and the criminals in Myanmar be taken to justice too.
Special Thank you to Br. Arif for bringing us together in such a magnificent meeting!

2018 Martin Luther King Annual Service Was Discussed at IHW Imam Hussein (as) Interfaith Hall!

MLK Voice of Freedom, Justice and Truth Will Be Honored!

The representatives of Dearborn and Dearborn Heights interfaith churches met at Islamic House of Wisdom this afternoon to discuss the New Year program for MLK.

The service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn Heights on Sunday January 14th in 2018 at 3pm. This year program will be titled as" Embracing a Beloved Community".

During this meeting, Imam Elahi spoke about construction of this new hall which mainly serves our interfaith meetings and also a place for our senior citizens services. The hall is equipped with some educational and spiritual TV channels in Arabic and English so the elderly can enjoy their time before the prayer services.

During this interfaith meeting, Imam Elahi shared some information about 70 Islamophobic organizations and groups with over $200 million budget, with one agenda! Promoting hatred and hostility toward Islam and Muslims.

Using the general ignorance about Islam is the advantage of fear mongering forces and the best way of wining this psychological war is to meet, talk, listen and learn from one another.
The voice of wisdom must win the voice of explosion, shooting, warmongering and terrorism.
Our guests also spoke about some other social, moral and national concerns and supported the idea of developing more dialogue and outreach among the mosques and churches in the area, while facing the daily struggles and challenges.

11/9/17: Religious freedom in our Society Today

Religious Freedom In Our Society Today

Education-Engagement-Action!

Shared by Imam Elahi- First, I would like to say congratulations to the winners of yesterday's election and also those who didn't win but worked hard and made an investment of experience in their political life.

Next, I would like to talk about an important conference which was held in Detroit yesterday.
Thank you to honorable Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron the leader of Catholic Church in Michigan for your commitment, leadership and your extremely inspiring, intellectual and philosophical address in yesterday conference in SS. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church in Detroit.

The Archbishop made it clear that protecting our religious freedom is essential to our principle of patriotism. Religious liberty is based in human conscience and it is part of building our community and country. The Archbishop spoke about serious threats to our religious liberty in this political environment.

Other speakers included Dr. Khaled Beydoun, Dr. Elizabeth Clark, Dr. Christopher Lund, Dr. Frank Ravitch and Rev. Elder Von G. Keetch also presented powerful messages on the perception of religious freedom, inclusion, diversity, looking for commonalities, defending the culture of tolerance, understanding, and respect as the fundamental elements of American dream!

Islamophobia was a central discussion in yesterday's conference.
Unfortunately the president, whose job is to unite the nation and be everyone's leader, has chosen to empower Islamophobia, which promotes hate crimes against the Muslim community!

In the afternoon session I read a hate letter I received yesterday. The letter is full of insults to our holy prophet Mohammad (pbuh) the Quran and Islamic teaching and tells me in order to be a moderate Muslim I have to publicly denounce my faith values!!

This 5 page letter attracted the attention of the entire panel, followed with big discussion of the afternoon conference. The speakers showed sympathy and support for the Muslim community and promised to work with our community to fight ignorance and bring more education and understanding to our society.

I wish our Muslim community get more involved and make some investment for the success of this educational struggle!

Non-Muslim Students Attended Friday Prayer!

5-5-17: Professor Martyn Smith and some of his non-Muslim students from the Lawrence University of Appleton, Wisconsin attended Friday prayer at the Islamic House of Wisdom yesterday!

It was their passion for knowledge and understanding that promoted them to drive over 500 miles to be in Dearborn area and I commended them for this!
They told me, they had heard a lot about Islam in the media and also Sharia law in Dearborn and they decided to come and find facts face to face!
After listening to Friday sermons and even following the ritual prayer with us, they came to our office for some chatting and conversation!
We talked about the vision of three Abrahamic traditions about the future of the world and the concept of Mahdi and Messiahin Islam, Christianity and Judaism!
The responsibility of the faithful during the time of expectation was another subject of discussion!
Not enough just to sit down and pray for the appearance of the savior, we all must rise to our responsibility and act to promote peace, justice and piety.
Our duty in the absence of Al-Mahdi is to stay faithful, optimistic, patient, while supporting the truth and standing against evil, hypocrisy, arrogance and oppression nationally and globally!
Our guests left the IHW with a heart full of joy and unforgettable memories of friendship, respect and mutual understanding!
We thank God for all of these outreach opportunities and blessings!

Talking about Imam Hussein from a Christian perspective was very inspiring and energizing!

He spoke about love and sacrifice of Al-Hussein (SA) for the sake of God and humanity!

He was our guest and spent last few days in our house , while I took him to the airport this morning, he wanted our community to know that in his 35 years of interfaith he never met a community as loving, understanding, kind and hospitable than the Dearborn community!

He told me about his unique and enjoyable experience in our town and said that his sermon in this Sunday will be entirely dedicated to his experience of meeting with Muslim community in Dearborn.

He said his message for Virginia this week would be this: to know the real Muslim people you don't need to spend thousands of dollars traveling overseas, just visit Dearborn and taste culture, faith, kindness and love of Muslim people!

In his last night of staying in Michigan we enjoyed a friendly dinner with the presence of some religious and community leaders and enjoyed a delicious dinner and dialogue!

Visiting St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Livonia on Easter anniversary was an opportunity to enhance our interfaith understanding!

Ambassador Dr. Ali Ajami, our Khollan Al-Wafaa, Shaikh Hassan and I visited one of our best Interfath friend, Fr. Shalhoub the leader of St. Marry church in Livonia.

We did this after honoring the anniversary of Qana and also the victims of yesterday criminal terrorist tragedy in Syria in a memorial service in Dearborn!

Fr. Shalhoub is known as a great voice of wisdom, justice and human rights in our clergy community. Both the Fr. and his assistants and his congregation members warmly welcomed us and gave us an orientation about the artwork of their facility and the religious history behind it.

I told Fr. Shalhoub and his congregation that in this messy world, full of death, destruction, murder and corruption the concept of Easter is a reminder of life and resurrection, regardless of our theological differences on this Christian faith doctrine!

We need to promote the value of life and necessity of a global spiritual resurrection!

That should happen through fostering the culture of love, peace, forgiveness, friendship and reconciliation, not warmongering, fear, violence and hatred!

It's a blessing to be able to strengthen the gift of diversity in a world of division, darkness and destruction!

During the Islamic Hose of Wisdom dinner on April 30, we will listen to a great Christian pastor and professor who will fly all the way from Virginia to Detroit to speak about the love and sacrifice of imam Hussein for freedom, justice and peace in the world!
