Join us for Friday Prayer at 12:30pm-

this week's theme by Imam Elahi:

"The Quran & Some Major Characteristics of our Creator: Just, Generous, Loving, Peaceful, Kind, Compassionate, Forgiving & Beautiful!"

Shall those who claim that their God is different from the God of Islam still tell us if they believe in a God with different characteristics?

Samahat Al-Sayyed Ali Al-Qadhi, the grandson of the late Marja, Sayyed Muhsen Al-Hakim Visted the IHW

Sayyed Ali Al-Qadhi is a teacher in Najaf seminary, affiliated with the office of Ayatollah Sayyed Saeed Al-Hakim.

We had an hour long conversation about the situation of Muslims in America and the Middle East.

The Sayyed carried the salaams and prayers of Ayatollah Sayyed Saeed Al-Hakim to our community. The main point of Ayatollah message for the Shia Muslims in America was to take the advantage of this exceptional opportunity and share the logic of Ahlol-bait of the prophet (pbuh). The world is gradually realizing that the path of the prophet and his family, is path of peace, justice and compassion.
The world is about to discover that the Shia Muslims are of the main victims of terrorism of isis, Al-qaeda and other terrorists in the Middle East. This would help us to have a constructive conversation among our community and also our country.

University Students Visited IHW Yesterday!

A large Group of high school and college students from around the country visited IHW in order to learn about the religion of Islam and the history of the growing Islamic community in US.

Yesterday, We started the meeting with an informative presentation about culture and religion explaining the Quraanic verse : يا أيها الناس إنا خلقناكم من ذكرٍ وأنثى وجعلناكم شعوباً وقبائل لتعارفوا إنّ أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم- A Divine call to mankind reminding the origin of all ppl of the world that are related to one pair male female, this would tell us that islam looks at both genders in the same position and respect and no one is better then the other in this life expect with his or her qualifications and closeness to the Almighty God and fearing him and surrendering to his order and command .

The Scene was open for questions and answers on topics including terrorism, imam Al-Mahdi concept, our belief in Jesus Christ (pbuh), believing in the day of judgment and the islamic order and concept of Hijab.

Plus there was a talk about the history of this community and the great work and the service that the centers are conducting especially the Islamic House of Wisdom that was founded 20 years ago under the leadership of Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi with the support of our generous community!

WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN!!!

Join us next Saturday, Feb. 27th at 6:30pm!  Open Q&A!

Welcome to our second open Q&A for the public at the Islamic House of Wisdom! As with the first event, this is an open to the public invitation to come and sit and have friendly dialogue about any questions or concerns you may have with the faith of Islam, Islamic culture, or current events.

The first open Q&A went really well and we literally ran out of time during the dialogue so we're creating a couple of changes to open the floor.

First we'll meet in the dining hall for a half hour of tea and sweets at 6:30PM, and at 7PM sharp we will begin our Q&A in the main room. Steven Urenda will be on hand as your facilitator and to make sure that that microphone gets passed around evenly and we will close the discussion with Imam Elahi providing answers around 8:15 or so. Upon closing everyone is invited back to the dining room to enjoy some wonderful soups and salad and to get to know one another casually.

As before - the goal is dialogue, let's talk!  This will not be a religious lecture or a debate, it is instead a grass roots community meeting to build bridges and get to know one another. We hope to see you there!
